Meridian, Mississippi, 1960s. Vivian, a recently widowed black woman, meets Steve, a white photographer from New York, who seduces her and promises to take her away from the misery of her rural poverty. Alas, Vivian’s desire to leave is complicated by her delinquent son, who is not a part of Steve’s plan. At the same time, her neighbor, Mr. Cheney, decides to make his affection for her known, and begins an awkward but earnest courtship. Vivian’s simple life is further interrupted by a distressed stranger claiming she’s looking for Steve. Can Vivian choose between fulfilling her own desires or bow to social expectations? Will she escape to unknown future with Steve or will she be charmed into staying by the kindness of Mr. Cheney? Does Vivian abandon or commit to her troubled son? Find out this and more with Infectious.
