Sharon’s Shorts

Benefiting: New York Cares
Directed by: Joanna Strange
Written by: Sharon Cooper

Five ten-minute plays, written over the past seven years and produced in three countries. Hilarious and heartfelt, each one is a glimpse into the subtle moments that fundamentally define the characters, as well as the choices they make that could profoundly change their lives.

Siriously– Two men and a cell phone walk into a bar. Written in 2012, World Premiere.

Occupied– A woman demands what she is owed from her bank on Christmas Eve. Written in 2011, had its world premiere in Hungary and Germany on the same night in November of 2012. U.S. Premiere.

Wish You Were Here, My Love– The producers of “This is Your Life” pick the most unlikely guest for their Christmas episode. Inspired by a true story. World Premiere.

The Match– Old rivalries bubble to the surface when one roommate puts everything on the line. Originally produced as part of the “Hamlet Plays” at the Michael Weller Theatre in the Spring of 2006.

Painting Seventeen– An artist’s self-portrait reveals more than what’s on the canvas. Originally produced as part of the “Matisse Plays” at the Michael Weller Theatre in February of 2005.

Wish You Were Here, My Love, Siriously and Occupied were all written as part of the CRY HAVOC Holiday Play Series. Sharon is a Resident Playwright in The CRY HAVOC Theatre Company.
