Jenna Lazar (TD) is delighted to be returning to Planet Connections for her third year as the festival’s Technical Director. A seasoned stage manager, Jenna was the SM for both Carry On and Sweeter Dreams in PCTF 2011, as well as PCTF 2012′s lascivious hit, The Empress of Sex. Jenna is also a core member and the Company Manager of the Oberon Theatre Ensemble, with whom she served as the PSM for their critically-acclaimed production of The Drawer Boy, which transferred to Soho Playhouse after a sold-out run at the June Havoc Theatre. Additional Oberon credits include Christopher Boal’s Order (dir. Austin Pendleton); American Rapture (dir. Alexander Dinelaris); Steven Fechter’s The Woodsman; The Starship Astrov; Insecurity; Keep on Truckin’- It’s War!; and Oberon’s 2015 24/7 Play Festival. Other favorites include Summer Shorts 8 (59 E 59 Theatres); A Hard Wall at High Speed (APAC); Sex Good, Money Bad (Broken Watch Theatre Company); Jonathan’s Blaze (Summer Shorts 4); Woman Before A Glass (dir. Austin Pendleton); Twelfth Night; Hamlet (w/ Karen Lynn Gorney); and the short film Like Ten.
Jenna previously served as a Generation Next board member of the American Friends of Beit Issie Shapiro, the American fundraising arm of Beit Issie Shapiro. Based in Israel, Beit Issie Shapiro provides services to developmentally disabled children and their families, as well as training programs for therapists and caregivers, serving over 30,000 children worldwide each year. Although this particular board was forced to dissolve, Jenna continues to support a variety of non-profit organizations, primarily in the arts and medicine.
