Assistant Technical Director
Mary Greene is thrilled to be returning to Planet Connections this year in her new role as Assistant Technical Director. Mary joined the Planet Connections team in 2015 as a technical apprentice and is pleased as punch to be back. A native of North Carolina, Mary has been in love with the performing arts since her early days as an actor (circa 2006). Mary went on to study dramatic art at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and has most recently been engaged there as the Senior Production Stage Manager at Carolina Performing Arts.
Mary is also the creator and founding artistic director of InProduction, a summer theatre program for students in western North Carolina. Created to provide theatre education and performance opportunities for budding young actors and theatre artists in rural communities, InProduction has continued to provide the foundation for a variety of nonprofit youth theatre programs in the same area for the past 3 years.
Mary has also held a variety of roles within her local community and university theatre organizations. A few of her more recent favorites include: How I Spent My Saturday (director, premier workshop performance, NC), Company (director, NC), The Subject was Roses (SM, Ensemble Studio Theatre), The Talk (RSM, Ensemble Studio Theatre) The 39 Steps (LD, NC), and The Drowsy Chaperone (PM, NC). She particularly enjoys new work and the uniquely collaborative process that new work entails. Her other interests include heritage storytelling, foreign languages, travel, and progressive bluegrass music.
Mary is very excited to be rejoining her friends at Planet Connections and can’t wait to see what this season has in store!
