*Featuring Valerie Graham – Planet Connections 2010 Nominee for Outstanding Actress in a Musical/Play With Music
An exploratory (post-post modern) work reconciling the relationship between various forms of popular culture. The play asks the question of how “Americana” is actually defined to the average citizen when critically considered. Through the genre of mockumentary, we delve into the disparate but ever present icons of every day American commercial culture. Harry Potter, Les Miserables, and discord in Egypt lead this investigation into the implications of what we invite into our community and our selves.
Various styles are employed, from extreme naturalism to improv. This work invites its audience to question standards, while also providing accessible entertainment that’s sure to leave a lasting impression on the stance of citizenship.
